Vertex/Conversa developed a customized solution for a hotel chain in North America. This development involved selection of device hardware, application deployment, application management, OS customizations, custom packaging, fulfillment, reverse logistics and customer support.

DEFINE THE REQUIREMENTS
A major North American hotel chain wanted to use a managed device to connect their maid staff, maintenance staff and management staff across an internally-built app. Security and loss was a major issue to keep in mind when deploying 1000’s of Android devices, as well.

The mobility solution we created helped our client understand that these devices would not be targeted for theft because of the way they were configured. Also, because of our custom fulfillment services, each property was able to purchase devices directly.

 Asset Protection Application

In 2013, Vertex/Conversa observed the change happening in the wireless industry as device financing, equipment installment plans and device leasing overtook decades of subsidy models and network locks. We saw the opportunity for fraud in these plans, and recognized the possibility that network operators, OEMs and retailers implanting these programs would not see the financial ramifications until it was too late.

The application siperLOCK enables carriers and retailers to disable subscriber handsets remotely if the device is not returned, reported stolen or payment is not made. It protects against credit losses, reduces collection costs, speeds up collection returns and retains customers.

RISK REDUCED & PROFITS INCREASED
One tier-1 carrier lost $433 million in unpaid EIP payments in 2015. Its clear bad debt is a real problem for network operators. Our solution decreased collection calls by ½ and increased profits of one carrier’s EIP plan by 80 percent.

SECURELY DEPLOYED
By deploying siperLOCK via our cloud deployment solution, and by working with OEMs to have the app preloaded on devices, we gave carriers the solution for a competitive edge. As of 2nd Quarter in 2016, Vertex/Conversa deployed nearly 200,000 devices in channels such as network operators, national retail and enterprise.

 Social Media Company

A large social media company in North America was hosting an event for 3,000 guests. Each guest would be treated to a state-of-the-art virtual reality production. Vertex/Conversa was called in as the solutions provider to make this happen

 Gaming & Entertainment Industry

In 2016, Vertex/Conversa was called on to support the Virtual Reality Hub at the Tribecca Film Festival. This meant working with one of the leading gaming providers in North America to assist in hardware selection for the demonstrations, load content onto each device, provide the out-of-box deployment solution, kitting and shipping to site.

DEFINE THE REQUIREMENTS
Vertex/Conversa worked closely with Machinima to determine which device hardware would best support the virtual reality demonstrations it was creating. Next, Vertex/Conversa worked to create a stable environment within the device on which the virtual reality demos would run. Finally, we determine what the BOM for the demos would be (handset, VR glasses, charger).

EXECUTE THE PLAN
Under a tight timeline, Vertex/Conversa provided oversight of the project as well as engineering support. Procurement of goods, flashing, testing, kitting, delivery of goods and out-of-box user instructions were all managed through Vertex/Conversa.

REAL-TIME DEPLOYED SUPPORT
Once the product was delivered to the site of the film festival, Vertex/Conversa provided real-time troubleshooting support to the Machinima crew running the virtual reality demonstrations. As seen on the film-festival website, the project was a success!

 Liquor Company

As part of a nationwide grass-roots campaign to build a loyal following for the Hennessy brand, Hennessy aimed to simulate interest through Virtual Reality, specifically, a Virtual Reality Tour of how its cognac is made. These Virtual Reality Tours were given along with actual beverage tastings at hundreds of sites across the United States.

DEFINE THE REQUIREMENTS
Vertex/Conversa worked closely with the liquor company’s marketing organization to understand its overall goals for this project. Once goals were established, hardware selection began, a timeline was created and work began on getting the tour embedded in a secure environment within the device. From there, Vertex/Conversa worked to recommend hardware and customization opportunities within the device, and finally, created a project timeline.

 Healthcare Industry

Healthcare and technology go hand-in-hand. So when OEM’s began to introduce devices such as virtual reality goggles, medical practioners brainstormed on real life applications. One such brainstorming resulted in a holistic way for patients to manage chronic pain and anxiety. A new company was created (Applied VR), and Vertex/Conversa was brought on board as the deployment partner of choice.

 Law Enforcement

A major law enforcement OEM, Taser, was looking to provide connectivity and real-time video streaming across its product line. This real-time streaming is critical to law enforcement as they work to protect citizens and solve crimes, and will also aid in building trust back between communities and police officers. Taser wanted to sell the full solution, not just one piece of the puzzle. That’s when it called on us to perform the product integration.

DEFINE THE REQUIREMENTS
Taser was looking for an android device that would be worn on the chest of each police officer. Anytime a taser weapon is drawn, the video application of the device automatically activates and begins recording. It can also be activated manually by the officer. The device will also be used to photograph evidence as part of investigations.
